12 Awesome Aurifil Threads and Blockheads 2020 – Block 8

Aurifil thread in twelve stunning colors from Zen Chic’s Just Red fabric collection makes a wonderful addition to any thread collection.

Twelve Gorgeous Colors of Aurifil Thread

With so much focus on fabric and fabric design, we sometimes forget to talk about thread and the value of a well-rounded thread stash. After all, thread is pretty important to sewing!

I have had the honor and privilege of being a business partner with Aurifil thread for a couple of years now. I love the quality and unique style of their threads, and it’s been so exciting and wonderful to see several boxes of thread colors matching my fabric collections released over these last couple of years.

In fact, you can catch a glimpse of our last release of Aurifil threads matching the BREEZE collection here.

So, I’m very excited that again this year we’re releasing a box of simply beautiful colors matching the JUST RED fabric collection. This box has twelve 50 wt threads, all matching the JUST RED color pallette.

These hues include white, pale pink, candy, hot pink, lipstick red, cayenne orange, burgundy red and a mustard yellow that matches the gold in the JUST RED collection. All of these colors are a wonderful addition to your thread stash that you can use over and over.

I recently did an interview with Aurifil about my work and upcoming projects…

And now on to this week’s Block for our year-long sew-along… Ready?

FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #8
PATCH

It’s time to see what’s new this week with Blockheads 2020! If you’ve been sewing along with us, I encourage you to share your blocks with us in our thriving Facebook community or on Instagram using the hashtags #modablockheads and #modablockheads3. We’d love to see your creations and cheer you on!

And if you’re just learning about the free block pattern we share each week as part of our year-long sew-along, jump in any time! You can go back through the last several blog posts to catch up, and be sure to check out this post to find out what fabrics you’ll need to create your own beautiful and unique sampler quilt using free block patterns from Moda designers each week.

You can also check out what all the excitement is about by taking a look at Blockheads 2, our last Moda Blockheads adventure. It was a lot of fun, camaraderie and new friendships, and so far this year has been too!

This week’s block comes to us from Laurie Simpson, of the brand Minick and Simpson. Laurie is known for her traditional, patriotic-colored fabric collections and she mostly works in red, white and blue. She has a wonderful traditional style, and the block she created for Moda Blockheads 3 this week is also a traditional style. With its simplicity, though, you can easily add this block to any modern quilt. It really comes down to which color scheme and fabric style you choose when it comes to creating a more traditional or modern block.
