Two New Quilt Patterns for Chill and Block 25, Moda Blockheads 2020

Zen Chic brings you two more new patterns featuring our latest fabric collection, Chill.

Introducing Mega Star 2 and Those Trees 2 Featuring Chill

In last week’s blog post I introduced you to a new pattern featuring my upcoming fabric series CHILL which will hit stores in July. We got to see the Winter Windows pattern, and this week I’m excited to share two more patterns with you. The first one is Mega Star 2, and some of you will recognize it. It was featured with my previous Christmas fabric series and was quite popular, so I thought I’d revisit the pattern and give you an updated cover displaying the new fabric line.

Mega Star is a modern take on the classic Lone Star pattern which most of you will have seen somewhere during your time as a quilter. In this case, my star has a scrappy look and for that I used a jelly roll – it gives me a wide variety of prints at a lower cost.

I only used blues, whites and silvers and left out the fabrics with sand tones to give it a more cohesive look. Of course, you can choose whichever prints and colors you like, it all depends on your style. If you do use a jelly roll you also have the benefit of precut strips that are used during the sewing process with this pattern which will save you some time.

The second pattern I’d like to introduce, Those Trees 2, was also already featured with a previous fabric collection. It quickly sold out, so I again reprinted it with a new cover featuring the CHILL collection.

This pattern is so popular because of its minimalist modern Christmas look. You have a ribbon of trees in a wide negative space, which allows for beautiful intricate quilting or even geometric quilting, whichever you prefer. With this quilt I used a complete color range, and I like how the sand tones and the blue tones interplay.

You can purchase either or both of these patterns as PDF downloads in my shop.

Stay tuned! We’ll be having a huge pattern discount sale July 10th-12th. Sign up for the Zen Chic newsletter to stay updated!

This week brings us Block 25, Corner Garden from Robin Pickens. Robin is considered one of Moda’s modern designers, and when you visit her series for Blockheads 3 you’ll see that she creates two blocks each time. One has a nearly solid setting, and the other has different prints so she provides a couple of nice variations on her design. I can’t wait to see how everyone will interpret this week’s block with their own style and flair!
