How to apply circular patches in a playful quilt pattern: BOWLS
Quilting circles the easy way: Raw edge appliqué
This is the second quilt pattern for my brandnew fabric line DAY IN PARIS that has just arrived in stores. It's a smaller lap size quilt 55" x 55" called BOWLS and it makes use of one Layer Cake (assortment of 42 fabrics, each 10" x 10"). Therefore it showcases the complete collection, all the beautiful fabrics.
No worries about curved seams here: Bowls is pretty easy to sew: the technique used is raw edge appliqué, machine sewn. That's really easy to do.
The half circles have kind of an non-obvious order: Although they are arranged in a grid setting, they change direction once in a while or are left out here and there.
When it comes to quilting you shouldn't quilt too tight: The fusible web used with raw edge appliqué gives a bit of a stiffer touch to the fabric, so the quilting should be loose to obtain enough cozyness.
