Cute round DIY pincushion

You can never have enough pincushions, do you? Change the one you use from time to time like you would change your wardrobe after a while. This pincushion is so sweet and easy to make! It's just the right size for your sewing pins, and the covered button makes it extra cute.

Supplies

Instructions

  • Use scraps of fabric to cut out five triangles for the top and one circle for the bottom of your pincushion.

  • Join seams of the triangles to form a closed circle, with right sides together and 1/4” seam allowance.

  • Lay pieced circle for top and circle for bottom right sides onto each other, with raw edges lined up so you can see them both as one piece when looking at them from above. Pin all around if you wish!

  • With a ¼" seam allowance sew all around while leaving a 2" gap for turning in which you will insert polyfill or rice firmly.

  • Close up the gap with an invisible ladder stitch.

  • Sew a button on either side of the center. It is easiest to do this in one motion by putting the needle straight through and sewing both buttons at once, on top and on the bottom. To give it this special extra I used a covered button on top.
