Mini Charm Packs: More Than A Patchwork Quilt
When it comes to sewing, I LOVE CHARM PACKS! (and so will you!)
When I get my hands on a new charm pack, the first thing I do is admire the colors and types of fabric. I then set about creating a simple project or three from that particular collection, in this CELESTIAL by Zen Chic.
Fabric Suitcase Using A Charm Pack
I love sewing, but I don't always have the time (or the energy) to make a whole quilt from scratch.
That's why I love this adorable patchwork suitcase made from a charm pack of the Celestial collection by Zen Chic. A charm pack gives you all the fabrics you need for the front and backside of the suitcase—and that means no more scouring fabric stores for the right matching and coordinating fabrics!
The surface is fun to patch together and enhance with simple, straight quilting lines. And if you're looking for some fun fabrics to use as lining, there are so many options out there! The pattern for this suitcase is by Annie, called PACK IT.
The suitcase is cute and unique—it has just the right amount of room for a stay overnight or long weekend, so it makes an excellent gift for your grandchildren or other loved ones who like to travel! And it's so easy to sew—even the zipper can be inserted effortlessly! You'll be done in no time at all, and everyone will wonder where you got such a cute piece.
Making a patchwork suitcase with a charm pack can be a lot of fun. You feel like you are creating something special. This particular project takes the "charm" out of the Charm Pack, by using nearly all the fabrics, but it is a good way to use some of those smaller pieces and to get a layout that catches your fancy.
