How to sew a stylish Market Bag, and Blockheads Block 38

Wanna join me going grocery shopping?

Do you remember the tote bag we sewed a couple of weeks ago? It was a great one for your library books, for a little quilting project, or for a few groceries, we forgot the other day, right?
But this tote bag was too small for the weekly groceries, or was that just me? I longed for a bigger bag to carry all of my vegetables, milk, and bread. And I have found the perfect one. Yay!
Let me present to you the Market Bag by Anna Graham aka Noodlehead. It’s from her book Handmade Style, which has all kinds of fun projects.

For the Market Bag, I choose the Mochi Linen fabrics. The front panel is another quote of the Chill Mochi Linen Quote Panels, you probably know them by now, since we’ve used quite a few of them already.
I like this particular quote, saying “We are like a snowflake, all different in our own beautiful way”. I like it especially because it says to let everybody be their own person and don’t try to change someone to your own liking. Let people be, right? What better way to make a statement like that than on a big bag that is good for our planet as well.

OK, back to our Market Bag. So for the front panel, you can just stitch it on but what about making it a front pocket? You could slip your grocery list in there to have it for quick grabs, right? For the body of the bag, I chose yardage, which I call the dotted stripes and for the lining, I thought the big golden dots were perfect. A couple of leather handles finishes this Market Bag off. Ow, and have you noticed the little zipper pocket inside? Excellent to keep your wallet!

This Bag is a wonderful one and truly practical. You can carry a lot of groceries for the week. I myself usually go twice a week to the supermarket, so I can show off my bag more often!

By the way, the Market Bag you see here was made for me by Ulrike Brauns. Thank you so much, Gaby! If you check her out on Instagram (@ulrike_brauns) let her know I sent you!

FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #38
FRACTURED RAINBOW

Are you still with us in the quilt along from Moda Blockheads 3? Maybe you’re waiting for the next block? Well, you don’t have to wait anymore! Here is Stacy Iest Hsu’s contribution, Fractured Rainbow.

Stacy is a young modern designer for Moda and her specialty is little puppets. Fabric dolls she makes of panel prints where the dolls are printed on. The only thing you have to do is cut them out, sew them together, and stuff the puppet. And you have a perfect toy for your child or a fun gift for a little one. It’s so cute, you have to check them out on Stacy’s blog.

So are you pumped to quilt the next block for this week? Yes? Let’s start by downloading that pattern!
