How to Sew a Half-Square Triangle Pillow with 2 Minicharm Packs
A beautiful half-square triangle pillow with Breeze!
With its soft, flowing hues and captivating patterns BREEZE brings an airy, light and refreshing feel to any project. Its versatility makes this fabric collection a perfect choice for quilting, accessories, home decor projects and anything your imagination can come up with!
In this post we’ll walk through the materials you'll need and the steps for creating this lovely half-square triangle pillow using two Minicharm packs of this gorgeous, dynamic fabric.
This chic pillow was sewn by Oggi Charisis, you can find her on Instagram!
Materials You'll Need
2 Minicharm Packs of Breeze for Moda
1/8 yard of a Breeze Fine Line print
1 yard of a white solid
1 zipper
1 19 1/2 inch (50 cm) Pillow form
The details
The pillow is made of 13 rows and 13 columns of half-square triangle units. Each unit’s finished size is 1 1/2" square, and you can find my detailed instructions on how to sew a half-square triangle here. This provides for a 19 1/2” square pillow.
You can also use a blocloc ruler to create extremely accurate units, as shown in this tutorial.
Oggi sorted the colors in the pillow into diagonal rows. The navy rows, with their vivid contrast, give the pillow a clear, striking structure.
She then inserted a zipper on the backside, covering the zipper with a strip of the Fine Lines print from the BREEZE series.
Oggi then quilted the top of the pillow with diagonal lines perpendicular to the triangle rows. Last, she layed top and backside wrong sides onto each other, basted both layers together and bound it with a white solid binding. You can find great tutorials on how to do this here and here.
Congratulations! You now have a charming, chic addition to your home decor that will make a beautiful accent in any room or space.
