Free Quilt Along Blockheads 2018 - Block 2

WHITE CHRISTMAS fabrics have hit stores these days

Where the heck is my rotary cutter again? Want to sew my Block 2 of our Moda Blockheads 2018 free Quilt Along and it must be buried under a pile of new Christmas fabrics.  These days are crazy busy, since WHITE CHRISTMAS arrived in stores and has to get into the shelves, cut into bundles and set up into my online shop. A few sample blocks must be sewn and newsletters sent out.

But on the other hand it is very exiting and satisfying to see how well this line is received and get all these cheering up comments and feedbacks on a Christmas line beyond the traditional reds and greens.

I think I will write a complete block post these days on all the fabrics and patterns, so stay tuned for this!

Oh, and here it is - the missed rotary cutter! Yep, on to block 2 of our free quilt along - blockheads fun!

Fabrics used in the block are from Moda, Basic Grey GRUNGE and Zen Chic (MORE) PAPER

A couple of days ago I talked about the new project Moda Blockheads 2018 (Round 2). The post gave an overview of the project, size, what to expect, materials list and more. I showed you my fabric choices of Grunges (which arrived this week, yeah!) and Modern Background Paper, respectively More Paper.

Last week we started already with Block 1 (I have an update on the post, showing my actual real sewn block).

Now on to Block 2, Buckeye Beauty

This week's round is hosted by Me and My Sister (aka Barb and Mary). The both are the most hilarious ladies from our designer team. When we as designers have a presentation, they come up with ideas and monkey tricks that make me laughing tears. But they are not only extremely funny, they are also very kind, humble and supportive, besides being a successful team for years already. To download Block 2 visit their blog, where the file is provided.

As you can see by comparing my computer block with my sewn block - depending on how you place colors or values you can achieve a quite different look - even with a simple block like that. So try and play what might work best for your block.

I used only one color of Grunge and different background scraps for my interpretation of this block. I try to keep the small and more simple blocks also simple in color design in order to avoid a jumble effect in the finished quilt.

Don't miss the other blockheads involved in this project:

Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilt
Jan Patek
