Are you up for something fun, something new? Maybe you’ve browsed the online stores already or you’ve gone to visit your local fabric store. But you just couldn’t find that special collection to make something uplifting, something that just put a smile on your face?

I know why. It’s because Zen Chic’s new collection is hitting stores as we speak! Let me introduce you to the new fabric line SEW HAPPY.

A little background story

First a little background story on how this special collection came to be. In April of 2020, Moda asked me to create a collection with an uplifting vibe (yes, it seems like ages ago already). We had just heard about Covid-19 and everybody was kinda panicking about it. We didn’t know how all of this would affect our future and daily life for that matter. 

When in some cities lockdown was introduced, people lost their jobs or got a cut in their paychecks. Shops didn’t have the same income streams as before and the world was struggling. It was a scary time and even a bit depressing.

An uplifting collection with quotes

By that time, Moda thought about bringing something to the table which could help uplift the mood a little bit amongst us sewers. So they asked me to create a collection with quote panels as I did before for my collection Chill Mochi Linen.

Of course, I jumped to the idea and started looking for positive quotes. And I found myself more and more ending up with quotes about how sewing or quilting would make me happy. In the end, I focused on that topic and made only quotes about how quilting and sewing contribute to happiness.

Coming up with a name for this enlightening collection wasn’t too hard: SEW HAPPY was born. 

The SEW HAPPY collection

It’s quite a small collection. In April, we just didn’t know how things would develop so we stuck to a small selection of fabrics. It’s a very pure color scheme, with only three colors being black, linen, and gold. The collection basically is built on a huge panel print with 6 uplifting quotes.

You can cut out the quotes from the panel and use them in various projects. In addition to the quote panels, which come in a black and linen variant, we have six prints as coordinates. Again three of them in black and three in linen.

Sturdier canvas, perfect for heavy-duty projects

All the designs are printed on canvas substrate, which means they are a bit sturdier than our usual cotton weed. The canvas can very well be used for bags, table wear, or anything home deco like fabric-covered boxes, fabric baskets, or storage bins, and so much more. For example, if you make a basket, you can cut out a quote and sew it on the front of the basket. If you make a bag you can use a quote as a little front pocket.
