Sewcialites Block 15 - GENUINE by Lori Holt
This will Bee a “Genuine” and Lovely Block
It’s time for the next block in the Sewcialites Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. We’re in the fourth month already, can you believe it? It feels like only yesterday that we started this fun quilt along. Luckily we have another 6 months to go. So there are plenty of beautiful blocks going to be presented to us by all these amazing quilting designers.
This week Lori Holt is the designer in the spotlights. Lori is a busy bee. She has her own blog, called a Bee in my Bonnet, where she shows her work which is colorful and full of flowers and farm life. It’s a really unique style and it’s quite appealing.
Lori also has her own YouTube channel where she is demonstrating her work and shows via tutorials on how to tackle some quilting challenges.
The block that Lori made for us this week is called Genuine. It’s a charming block that is not too challenging to get together, I would say. It reminded me of those old-fashioned pinwheels for kids. What do you think?
I made this block using my Spotted fabric, color Princess, combined with fabric from my collection Paper as the background. Makes it all in all a sweet block in my eyes.
Now, I’m curious about what fabrics you will use. Different colors can give totally different outcomes. I would love to see your finished block. Would you show us all in the special Facebook group, the Sewcialites Lounge? Here you can also connect with other quilters who are making their sampler quilt and you may even be inspired.
You can also get inspiration and a few tips and tricks by watching the Livestream on YouTube every Friday morning. Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop goes live at 9 am CDT on their YouTube channel where she is quilting in real-time with the rest of us. You can ask questions via the chat if something isn’t completely clear.
And when you post your progress on Instagram using the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL you can even win great prizes donated by companies like Stella Lightning, Aurifill, and byAnnie. Are you up for a little gambling?
I hope to see your block by Lori on social media. And if you want to, you can always send me an email and show me your progress. I love to hear from my readers.
Happy quilting!
