How to prepare yourself for our upcoming Sew Along SPOTTED MORE PAPER
Hey there! Since this spring there were some teasers and previews on our upcoming modern Block of the Month quilt project SPOTTED MORE PAPER. I’m so excited to finally start now and sew along with you!
The name of our BOM derives directly from the both brand-new fabric lines. I used a collection of bright blenders: SPOTTED and an assortment of low volumes: MORE PAPER.
If you sew this BOM along with us, you will get
a quilt with 12 fresh and modern blocks in a unique setting (finished size 85” x 85”)
detailed sewing instructions for each block
hints and tips during the sew along here on my blog
sewing buddies who are with you
inspiration and encouragement from others sharing their project on Instagram and Facebook
But before we can start sewing, we need the the pattern and fabrics. So today I’m talking about a super deal with the pattern and about needed yardage and alternative fabric choices.

Get some awesome fabrics to start your BOM
If you want to go with the original fabric suggestions you have at least three options to purchase the needed fabrics:
Download the materials list below and google for shops carrying my fabrics. There is a also list of stockists on my website with some of the shops, which have my lines, maybe one of it is yours?
Get yourself a quilt kit, including all the needed fabrics plus the pattern (best option). I know not every shop, which has it, so googling for the kit would be the way to go here too.
For the blocks themselves you can also go with a F8 bundle of the SPOTTED blenders plus a F8 bundle of the MORE PAPER low volumes. Add the yardage for the background (6 low volume prints, each 3/4 yard) and 3/4 yard for the binding and you are prepared to start.
Alternative Fabric Ideas
For any other fabric ideas, the above mentioned purchase option with the Fat Eighth Bundles for the blocks (colors about 30 F8, backgrounds about 30 F8) plus additional background fabric (4 1/2 yards) and binding (3/4 yard) is a great way to go. To get the blocks really stunning, it makes sense to keep them clear and contrasting. Good options to replace my colorful SPOTTED blenders are (from left to right):
Solids, Wovens like Oakshott, calm batiks, marbles, or another line of colorful blenders.
(You could also go with your favorite collections of prints. But keep in mind, that a busy print won’t show the architecture of a block as clearly as a calm fabric can do).
Options to replace my MORE PAPER low volumes are (from left to right):
Solids (light), solids (dark), Grunge or Marble, a small scale background print, any other line of low volumes
So grab your pattern deal! You won’t miss that. And tell us about your fabric choices in the comments below - even better: show us a snapshot at Instagram, using the hashtag #SPOTTEDMOREPAPER or join our facebookgroup
