Winter Windows - An Easy Zen Chic Beginner Quilt Made With a Layer Cake and Blockheads Block 24
A fun, beginner-friendly quilt pattern
I’m so excited to announce that my newest fabric line CHILL will be hitting stores in July. And what better way to prepare for a new fabric series than by getting to know its matching patterns? And if you really want to plan ahead, you can even reserve your matching fabric bundle for this pattern.
The Winter Windows quilt pattern is designed around a layer cake. A layer cake is such a fantastic way to go – especially on a low budget – as it gives you the complete variety of a collection and you even have the benefit of the precut format. You have 42 fabrics, all the different prints the series has to offer, and they’re cut to 10 in x 10 in squares. You’ll save a lot of cutting time and you’ll have all the variety while keeping expenses down.
This pattern makes use of a layer cake from the collection CHILL. With its easy-to-sew technique it’s perfect for beginners and any first-time quilter can master this quilt. It also isn't very time-intensive– you can probably sew a block in about 15 minutes depending on your skill level and you could quite possibly sew this quilt in a weekend.
The look of this quilt is modern and fresh, with a three-dimensional look. Its design is also a great fit for boys or men and could make a great gift for that young or older gentleman in your life. I used a plain solid for the background to keep it nice and neat to show off the quilting. In this case, I went with a modern geometrical quilting to enhance the quilt’s geometrical design.
You’ll find this pattern in my online shop, and you can even reserve your precut layer cake here.
Stay tuned! We’ll be having a huge pattern discount sale July 10th-12th. Sign up for the Zen Chic newsletter to stay updated!
