Sometimes a new collection comes out, you look at the fabrics and you know instantly what you wanna make. Maybe you even have the perfect pattern for a while. You were just waiting for this collection and now it’s finally here, yay!
Other times, you see this beautiful new collection and you’re totally blacking out. What the heck will you make? I know some of us just buy the fabrics and we’ll figure it out later. I bet I’m not the only one here.
New collection Sew Happy
When we introduced Zen Chic’s new collection Sew Happy in our last blog post, which one of the two was applicable to you? Do you already know what you wanna make with them? If so, tell us in the comments, we love to hear your thoughts. If not, keep on reading, we’ve got something special for you here.
Carry a Smile totebag
As I mentioned, we have introduced the Sew Happy line in our former blog post. Let’s take a look at the patterns for this fun collection. In this article, the first pattern that hits the spotlights is “Carry a Smile”.
Make a grocery bag
The quote Smile with the cute camera inspired me to make a pocket out of it on a bag. I wanted to make a huge bag because I’m totally in love with those big tote bags. I can take them with me when grocery shopping. Usually, I go once a week, so I need big tote bags to carry it all home with me. The canvas fabric from the Sew Happy collection makes for a sturdy bag with strong straps, something you could use for carrying your milk and potatoes, right?
Use it for your quilting supplies
Also, it is perfect for quilting supplies to take with you to your guild meetings. The size of the bag fits all kinds of things you need, like a smaller cutting mat, a large ruler, even a little iron. And of course, your fabrics and other notions.
The perfect beach bag
In the summer you can use it when you go to the beach. Bring your towels, some snacks, and your book. When your kids go in the water, their clothes won’t get all sandy once you put them into the Carry a Smile tote bag. How perfect is that?
The right fabrics
For my bag, I used from the collection, the natural linen canvas with the crosses in black and golden. For the front pocket, I cut out the Smile quote in black to make it a real eyecatcher. I just love it, what do you think?
