I’m very honored and proud to be part of Quiltmania’s SIMPLY MODERNE magazine, issue number 17. It’s brimming with modern quilt inspiration and simply stunning creations! This Quiltmania issue has a lot of extremely creative, dynamic and colorful quilts. Some have a summer feel to them with bright colors, florals, and reminders of the ocean and some are independent from any season — modern, evergreen quilts.
For even more engaging, fascinating content you can also read about Jacquie Gering, one of the founders of the Modern Quilt Guild. She brings incredible, sophisticated detail to her quilts and is a truly inspiring and self-taught quilter.
Issue 17 of Simply Moderne has hit newsstands, and you can get your copy here.
11 projects, hand-crafted by Mieke Duyck, Kaffe Fassett, Beatrice Airaud, Brigitte Heitland (that's me, yeah!) and several other exciting designers…
My project, the DELIGHT quilt
is also featured in this issue (see below)…
It measures 73” x 73” and is a Half-Rectangle-Triangle Block in an asymmetric setting with lots of negative space. This block is more advanced to sew since we don’t work with a 45° angle, but there are tools that make it easy to master! One of these is the BLOC LOC ruler. You can see a demo of how this ruler works here.
The color scheme of this quilt reminded me of a fresh, summer sunrise with a wonderful warm breeze of fresh air.
I used my fabric lines SPOTTED and MORE PAPER to create this beautiful, captivating quilt.
