The Back Story
Brigitte gave a fabric assortment to one of her helpers, Christina, to make this fun mini quilt… Later on Christina shared on her blog that she had a really hard time deciding which fabric should go where! For Christina, the project presented a color scheme outside her comfort zone, a complimentary color contrast she wouldn't have chosen on her own.
Can you relate?
Well, Brigitte was surprised when she read this on Christina’s blog and thought, you want to give a helper some freedom in the design process, so she can bring her own personal twist in, and not dictate too much…
But having to make all those decisions can also turn out to be a challege!
It reminded Brigitte of a situation that comes up regularly in her classes… the “hardest part” isn’t the technical skills, but rather the creative process — color choices, where to place what, etc.
While Brigitte engages in this creative process on a daily basis (it’s pretty much second nature for her and has been for a long time!), she’s also able to consciously step into the experience of someone striving to bring a creation to life using patterns and fabrics.
However, that’s also why designers do what they do!
They create beautiful things to inspire others, including when that means replicating something exactly.
