Do you read quilting magazines? Maybe you have a favorite one that you are eagerly awaiting every time it comes out. Or maybe you don’t know which one to choose. There are quite a few magazines out there.
Quiltmania magazines
If you are looking for a magazine that is featuring modern quilts, I would suggest you check out one of Quiltmania’s magazines. Now, Quiltmania is publishing magazines in 3 different categories: traditional, modern, and vintage. If you like modern quilts, check out the Simply Moderne quilting magazines.
I collaborate with Quiltmania for quite some time already. They feature my quilts regularly in their Simply Moderne magazines. The newest issue, number 26, showcases Zen Chic’s quilt Cross It and I’m very proud and happy with it.
The Cross It Quilt
This pattern is a fun one to make with the strips crossing each other in a non-perpendicular way. The strips are inserted and pieced in the quilt instead of being appliqued which can make it a bit tricky. To make it visual, I made a little video with the pattern where I explain how the strips are being placed and sewn into place. Of course, there are also the instructions in the pattern that help you make this fantastic quilt.
For this quilt, you would need one Jelly Roll or Honey Bun and of course yardage for the background. The 85” x 85” quilt is one for the advanced quilter. I have used my Quotation fabrics in this one, but I bet any other Zen Chic collection would be excellent to use.
Simply Moderne magazine
Quiltmania started with this particular magazine in 2015 already. It comes out 4 times each year and has a lot to look forward to. According to Quiltmania, in each issue are more than 10 projects. It also has a technical lesson presented by a designer who is specialized in modern quilting.
Let’s take a quick look at issue 26 for the fall of 2021, shall we?
Doesn’t that look inviting? You can order a printed copy or flip through it on your digital device, like your computer, notepad, or phone.
