A Sunny “Spot” in December
As creative people, we like to follow other creatives and their creative outbursts. For me, there is this lady, Svetlana Sotak whom I like to follow on Instagram and her blog. And I’m not the only one. Svetlana has a huge following for her look, which is quite modern, minimalistic, and always a little bit edgy if you ask me. Her cool designs truly inspire me in my own work.
Miss Sotak developed a free pattern for a tote bag and she called it the Sheridan tote. You can download it from her blog and so I did. I thought it would make a great tote bag with some of my fabrics from the Quotation line.
I picked the sunny yellow print, the one with the striped hand-lettering, medium scale. I added a little bit of the large scale asterisk print and took it to Christina Otte. Christina works for me from time to time and she sews some samples to help me feature my fabrics.
She did an excellent job again, don’t you think? Looking at this bag makes me feel all warm inside. A great way to face the cold winter months, wouldn’t you agree?
FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #49
X MARKS THE SPOT
Another great way to spend some time inside now that Jack Frost is really peeking his cold nose around the corner, is making another block for your Blockheads sampler quilt. As you know we are in the last part of this round of 2020. I bet your sampler quilt is coming together nicely.
You might know by now that we have an engaging community over at Facebook. Quilters are showing their blocks and are proud of what they’ve achieved. I hope you join in the fun as well. Also in this final stage, there are some amazing giveaways to take part in.
That’s right, Moda is giving away a Layer Cake of the designer of the week, every single week. That is 14 weeks of having the chance to grab a full Layer Cake with gorgeous fabrics. All you need to do is answer one simple question in the Facebook group, asked by that same designer of the week. It’s as simple as that.
Now let us take a look at the designer for this week, shall we? This week it’s the lovely Lissa Alexander of ModaLissa (I just love that name, so clever!). Besides being the marketing chief at Moda, Lissa is also a mom to 5 kids and grandma to 4 little ones. She has been quilting since the late 70s, has 2 books to her name, and contributed to several other books. What a busy lady!
Luckily for us, she had the time to make a free block for Blockheads again, which she called X Marks the Spot. Maybe she loves to go on a scavenger hunt with her grandkids? This block is no less than to the point!

Think of sewing notions, any sweets, or - as I used them - as a decorative flower pot. And the EVEN MORE PAPER fabrics make for a nice exterior!
