Red isn’t just a color… It’s a state of mind
I am very excited to announce that my newest fabric collection, JUST RED, has just hit stores. I shared a sneak peak of this enticing, gorgeous fabric collection a few months ago and I’m thrilled that it’s finally here and ready for you explore what this daring and diverse color has to offer… Take a look!
As you can see, this new fabric collection will take your imagination to so many places, because red is just so many things! Fiery, passionate, cheerful, romantic, playful, roaring, smoldering… What direction will JUST RED take your creativity?
Two new patterns for Just Red!
And of course, what’s a new fabric line without new patterns to go with it? I’m very happy to announce RED GEESE, created for the JUST RED fabrics collection. This pattern is a new edition of the popular Twisted Geese pattern, which was released in 2016 and sold out very quickly. Since it was so popular, it seemed perfect to release a second edition recolored with the JUST RED fabric collection.
This quilt is so very easy to make, even a beginner can do it. I use the no-waste flying geese technique with this pattern, and a layer cake. The charming effect of this quilt comes from the use of the JUST RED prints in combination with the low volume PAPER fabrics. It creates a fun, whimsical feel and a nice texture to the complete quilt.
And for our second chic, modern and intriguing quilt…
For the JUST RED fabric collection I bring you PEAKS. It has only one simple block to sew that is mirrored and rotated so that you have a myriad of combinations in which to place it. The block doesn’t present itself in an obvious way, but rather in a tangram or geometric pattern that captivates the eye and excites the imagination.
Just Red has a wide range of colors, from white to pale pink, orange, red, pink and burgundy. For this quilt design I picked from the dark colors in the collection to show you how different a quilt can look when you only use a part of the complete pallette available.
Do you love these patterns? You can purchase Red Geese here and Peaks here.
And stay tuned for my huge pattern sale February 14th – 16th!
Both quilt patterns will be in my huge upcoming pattern discount sale on February 14th – 16th. Mark the dates on your calendar or sign up for my newsletter so you don’t miss the announcement of the sale!
And now on to this week’s Block for our year-long sew-along… Ready?
FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #3
NAME: CROWN AND STAR
A few weeks ago I announced the exciting news that Blockheads is here again for Blockheads 2020. BlockHeads 2 was such a smashing success and it was so fun to see everyones’s quilts come together in the Facebook community and on Instagram (be sure to use the hashtags #modablockheads and #modablockheads3 so we can see your blocks!). So, we’re doing it again this year – a fun, free, year-long sew along!
I shared a little bit about my layout a few weeks ago when we announced the kickoff of Blockheads 3 – if you’re following along be sure to check out that post to find out what fabrics you’ll need.
This week’s block, Crown and Star, comes to us from Betsy Chutchian. Betsy is known for her lovely, traditional quilts and has written a couple of books about quilting. For the block she designed, I went with a muted yellow color scheme to match with the color wheel in my quilt.
