Guess what? We have another book review and a giveaway! Woohoo!
I’m always honored when I’m featured in a book in the Moda All-Stars series. In this series, Moda designers contribute their time, expertise, and creativity for charity. On this occasion, I got to make a lap size quilt for Martingale’s newest book Snuggle Up!
Using a lap size quilt
Snuggle Up! is the perfect name for this beautiful book full of lap size quilts. These size quilts are the go-to when sitting on the couch watching TV or curled up reading an exciting book when the weather isn’t all that appealing.
But also in summer, a lap size quilt will be handy. Take it with you for a picnic or when you want the little ones to have a blanket to play on.
Snuggle up! for charity
All the designers who contributed the lap size quilts for this amazing book are donating their royalties from the sale of the book to a good cause. The money goes to St. Jude Children's Hospital. This hospital has 8 clinics across the United States and stands for treating the toughest childhood cancers and pediatric diseases. So if you buy this book, you’re helping a lot of sick children.
Paper Planes… Zen Chic’s contribution
Among the 12 beautiful lap size quilts in this book by Martingale, is my lap size quilt Paper Planes. For this quilt, I have picked fabrics from my Spotted collection and I also chose fabrics from my several Paper Collections - Paper, More Paper, and Even More Paper.
These are all basic collections which means that if you want to replicate this quilt to the tee, you will be able to purchase these fabrics in the foreseeable future.
It was a lot of fun contributing again. Also seeing the ideas and the quilts of the other designers is always a joy!
A giveaway of an ebook version of Snuggle Up!
The book is available for purchase at Martingale now. Remember you’ll be helping out St. Jude Children's Hospital with their research to cure a lot of children.
But if you feel lucky you just might want to wait a bit. We are giving away an ebook version of this new Moda All-Stars book.
All you need to do is tell us in the comments, which of the 12 lap size quilts is your favorite. You have until Sunday, March 6 to comment and be in for the drawing.
Good luck!

If you already joined the Quilt Along, I bet you are an expert by now on sewing those straight lines. We had a couple of blocks with straight lines so you could practice them well. And with my tips and tricks plus the video, I bet those blocks are done.

The next steps
It is time for the next step in our fun and free Quilt Along. This week we are going to sew all the biased seams. Biased seams can be tricky because of the stretch in the fabrics, but I give our quilters 3 tips in my video for this week. I also show how I sew all the blocks. Because there are quite a few with biased seams we get to practice them really well. And with some patience, you’ll get the job done, I’m sure.
Come join us in the Bauhaus Quilt Along
