Jelly Roll quilting pattern
Have you ever had a precut bundle and no clue what to make with it? Jelly Rolls especially can be a bit of a challenge since the strips are just 2.5” wide. But once you find a cool quilting pattern, it is so much fun to work with a Jelly Roll.
Zen Chic has a couple of fun but also beautiful sophisticated quilting patterns for Jelly Rolls. But there is one that is a smashing hit time and time again. This particular pattern is brought back for the third time and each collection that is featured by this pattern is so different from the other ones.
Celestial Stripes, the third edition
In the past, we had Jelly Beans for You, featuring the Juggling Summer collection. And there was Striped Paint with the Hey Dot collection. Both were rather colorful and fun versions of this pattern.
Today, this very pattern is featuring the new Celestial collection and I called it, very appropriately, Celestial Stripes. With these fabrics, the pattern comes across as classy, elegant, and stylish. What fabrics can do, right?
A beginner friendly pattern
Let’s take a closer look at the pattern, shall we? Celestial Stripes is an easy-to-do, beginner friendly quilt pattern. Even gathering the materials is easy, you just need one Jelly Roll of your choice and a matching, simple, calm background fabric. And you are all set to make a completed bed-sized quilt.
By cutting the block units themselves efficiently, you can put the center of the quilt together in one afternoon. That’s pretty spectacular for a bed-sized quilt, don’t you think? After framing the center with an accent stripe all around, you can send it off to your preferred long-arm quilter. Put on the binding and tadaaa…. Your quilt is done!
I have made a video for you to show you some color and fabric variations plus a quick demo of the block. Enjoy!
A pattern for every fabric line
This is such a great pattern because every starting quilter can create a beautiful quilt. It’s truly a fantastic boost for your confidence as a beginner. No wonder this pattern is flying off the shelves and I felt like I needed a third edition for it.
As I mentioned, we had this pattern with two very colorful and cheerful collections before. Adding the classic, modern Celestial collection proves that this quilt pattern works with all kinds of fabric lines. It even looks great when you use striking solids or solids with a bit of a texture, like the Spotted blenders from Zen Chic.
