In this week’s blog post, we are going to use 2 of the Mochi Linen Panel Quotes. Those will be the centerpiece for the comfy pillows we will create. Because who doesn’t want to jazz up their home with some soft furnishing, right?
For these pillows, I don’t have a tutorial or specific pattern for you. You don’t really need a pattern because if you have a little bit of experience with patchwork, it will be a piece of cake and these pillows will brighten up your couch or bed in no time.
Let’s take a look at how one pillowcase is put together. Basically, it’s a Log Cabin Quilt Block. Therefore, you start by cutting the quote into a square. Then add strips of fabric around that square until you reach the desired size of your pillowcase. The finished strips will be 1” wide and our complete pillowcase is 20” x 20” or 50 x 50 cm.
For the backside, Gaby, who made these cozy pillows for me, inserted a hidden zipper which makes it look very elegant, don’t you think? You can follow her on Instagram @gabyelisabethbeck. By the way, the backside of our pillows here are not Log Cabin blocks but yardage from the Chill fabric line.
She sewed the front and the back wrong sides together, finishing it by adding a binding around the pillow. This gives it a little edge which adds some sturdiness to the pillows. All you need to do is putting your pillow into the case and voilà, you have some good looking stylish additions to your home.
Why don’t you give it a go and tag Zen Chic on Instagram (@zenchicmoda or #zenchic) so I and your quilting friends can admire your new pillows.
FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #43
CORNER DELIGHT
We are entering the last round in this Blockheads Quilt Along by Moda, can you believe it? This week’s block is the 43rd block already. And stay tuned because we have something pretty awesome to share!!
But first, let’s take a look at that next block already. It’s designed by the lovely Corey Yoder from Coriander Quilts.
Corey lives in Ohio with her family and 2 funny cats who are “assisting” her quite often with her quilting according to her Instagram account. For her quilts, she uses nice bright colors on a lighter background which makes the quilts a feast for the eye.
The block she has made for us today is called Corner Delight and it’s a delightful block indeed.
14 Weeks of giveaways!
Now for that awesome something I mentioned earlier. Drum roll please…..
Moda is going to give away a Layer Cake each week starting today until the end of Blockheads 2020. Whoo-hoo! That means you have a chance to win every week for the next 14 weeks! Isn’t that incredible?
This is how it works: Head on over to the Facebook group and find the special giveaway post for this week’s block from Corey. Follow the instructions in that post to have a chance to win the Layer Cake of her collection Spring Brook. And then, keep your fingers crossed when Moda is picking the winner about a week later, the day before the next block is presented.
It’s that simple! Every week the designer-host is coming up with the rules to win her Layer Cake, so make sure you follow along on Facebook to play by the rules.
