What colors are you “Devoted” to?
We are 6 weeks into this Quilt Along presented by Fat Quarter Shop. How time flies, right? Can you believe we are approaching Christmas? It is here before you know it, mark my words, my friend.
Maybe you’ve begun thinking about Christmas gifts already or even started on some gifts. A handmade gift, like a nice quilt, would make an awesome one, don’t you think? And this Quilt Along is the perfect opportunity to try out some amazing blocks.
You see, each week for 38 weeks, the best designers in the quilting business, brought together by Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop, bring you a new block to try out. You can make an amazing sampler quilt out of all those blocks. Or you can pick one (or a few) of your favorites and put together a one-of-a-kind quilt nobody has.
So let’s take a look at the block for this week. It is designed by the talented Robin Pickens and it’s called Devoted.
Robin has studied graphic design. She loves presenting color studies on her website and making each block in all kinds of different colors. It’s a great way to see that one design can have so many different feels, just because of color. Don’t you just love that?
My sampler quilt will have the vibrant colors from my Spotted and More Paper fabric collections, yet it has a soft feel to it. You can see that in the layout for my quilt. For the block from Robin, I used the deep orange from the Spotted fabrics.
Have you thought about or maybe envisioned how your quilt is going to look and feel?
In the Facebook group, Sewcialites Lounge you can feast your eyes on so much quilting goodies. Your quilting friends are posting photos of their blocks and it’s just a happy place to be in. Are you sharing your blocks too?
And should you need a little help or just some quilting company, join Kimberly each Friday to quilt along with her. She is live streaming on her YouTube channel from 9 am CDT. And you can even ask questions, should you have one.
Enjoy quilting this block from Robin and hope to see you next week!

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
