Some sunny “sparkles” coming your way
I’m not sure what the weather is where you are, but here in Germany at Headquarters of Zen Chic, it’s Winter. And Winter can be dark and gloomy, right? That’s why I wanted to give you a little sunshine in your day.
You may recognize this quilt pattern. A couple of months ago, this same pattern was used to make a mini quilt with the Chill fabrics. We made a YouTube tutorial so you can make your own.
Today this same quilt pattern is showing the Quotation fabrics. Now didn’t this turn out a sunny and happy mini quilt? If you wanna try this pattern yourself, you can find the download link below.
FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #51
SPARK PLUG
We are wrapping up 2020 with a lovely block in Blockheads3.
This week we have Vanessa Goertzen as the designer of the week. The block she made for us is called Spark Plug. She is really trying to ignite something with this block and get our motors running during the last part of this Quilt Along!
Vanessa is a modern Moda designer and showcases her work on her website Lellaboutique. Usually, her quilts are pretty much filled to the brim with color, but lately, her projects are more earthy-toned. It’s quite refreshing.
Besides on Vanessa’s blog, you can find a lot of inspiration on Instagram and in our Facebook group. Quilters are sharing their interpretation of the free blocks and show us what fabrics they’ve used. Of course, you can always post on your own Instagram and Facebook page. If you use the hashtags #modabockheads or #modablockheads3 others can find it and you make friends along the way.
And should you be in the Facebook group, make sure you answer Vanessa’s question in the announcements this week before checking out again. You could be the winner of a Layer Cake of her collection Smoke & Rust, which Moda is so generously giving away. Could be a perfect beginning of the new year, right?!
All that remains is for me to wish you all a cozy and safe New Year’s Eve. And we’ll see each other in 2021!

Would you like to know how to sew these fun mini fabric baskets with this free tutorial? They are quick to make and perfect for storing and organizing so many small items. Think of sewing notions, any sweets, or - as I used them - as a decorative flower pot. And the EVEN MORE PAPER fabrics make for a nice exterior!
