You asked I listened
I recently sent out a survey to my subscribers asking what kind of content they’d like to see on my YouTube channel. These were the three top things that came up:
Modern design
Scraps – how to use them
Smaller projects that can be done on a weekend.
And so, the video below combines all three of these! I made this pillow using the scraps I’ve saved in my scrap box, and it’s easy to sew in a weekend or even an afternoon. It’s also modern and has a cool, chic style. Making this pillow involves an improvisational cutting technique, but rather than writing a thousand words, let’s let the pictures (or video!) speak for themselves.
Below you’ll find the video tutorial I made for this pillow. Let me know in the comments below if you’d go with solids for this project, or perhaps take a more colorful route and throw a couple of prints into the mix.
And now on to this week’s Block for our year-long sew-along… Ready?
FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #28
BROKEN DISHES
Another week and another fabulous, free block design in our year-long quilt along with Moda Blockheads 3! If this is all new to you, welcome! Each week we share a free block pattern designed by a Moda designer, and you can create your own unique sampler quilt or get creative with other projects using these creative block designs
Do be sure to visit our thriving Facebook community – it’s where we share our blocks and get to see the sampler quilts and other projects that are coming together. And we’d love to see your blocks too – you can also share them on Instagram using the hashtags #modablockheads and #modablockheads3.
If you haven’t already and you’re interested in joining in the fun, check out this post to find out what fabrics you’ll need to get started creating your own unique sampler quilt using free block patterns from Moda designers each week. You can also go back through the last few months here on the Zen Chic blog to catch up with the blocks that have been shared so far, or even check out Blockheads 2, our last round of Moda Blockheads.
This week’s block comes to us from Joanna Figuroa. Joanna is a well-known Moda designer, and she went with a classic block for her contribution this week. We’re now into the red portion of my sampler quilt layout, so you’ll see my version of this block using reds from my SPOTTED collection below. Have fun with this block and be sure to share your finished progress with us!
