Beautiful things do come in small packages
While I of course absolutely love creating my own patterns, it’s also so fun to see my fabrics brought to life with someone else’s wonderful creativity. This week I’m featuring a beautiful small quilt by Christina Cameli called the the Splashdown quilt. Christina designed this free pattern to feature her fabric collection with Maywood fabrics, and it is a really fun project to sew ending up at 40x40 inches in size.
In her pattern Christina mostly uses half-square triangles, and for the corners she has a kind of flying geese design that you’ll learn the trick to with the pattern instructions. She even provides a free blank layout sheet so you can experiment with which fabrics and colors you’d like to use and where.
In our example we used the new CHILL collection, and to sew this quilt all you’ll need is a Charm Pack and some background fabric. Again, this is a very fun quilt to sew, and it also makes a fabulous table runner.
This quilt was sewn for me by Ulrike Brauns, find her on Instagram @ulrike_brauns
And now on to this week’s Block for our year-long sew-along… Ready?
