We all could use a little “Courage” sometimes...
Welcome back to another block in our Sewcialites Quilt Along from Fat Quarter Shop. We are in week 26 already and if you’ve been keeping up with us, your sampler quilt is coming along nicely.
Maybe it took you a bit of courage to start on this sampler quilt, not exactly knowing what was coming and whether you could make it all work. Sometimes quilting requires a bit of courage and persistence. It’s always exciting starting a new project.
I speak from experience because, here at Zen Chic, we are in the middle of working on a new project ourselves. You see, at the end of this month we are hosting our own very first Quilt Along. And it takes a lot of steps ànd a lot of courage to put it together (by the way, if you want to join or read more about it you can go here).
Back to the Sewcialites QAL, this week we have a block called Courage. I believe it fits our sampler quilt perfectly. The block is designed by the lovely Joanna Figueroa. Joanna’s quilts are always full of color, bright, fresh, and a delight to see. No matter how down you’re feeling, her sunny fabrics and patterns cheer you up.
Another thing that will cheer you up, is watching the YouTube Livestream from Kimberly over at FQS. Every Friday at 9 am CDT she is making the block of the week with all of us. You’ll get to learn tips and tricks to get the blocks done. And should you have any questions, you can post them in the chat.
Joining others online is also possible in the Sewcialites Lounge on Facebook. We chat with each other, show how we’re doing with our blocks, and ask questions on all things quilting. It’s a very engaging group with almost 8.8K members. It would be lovely to see you there too if you haven’t joined already.
You finished your block? Share it with the rest of us on Instagram. When you use the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL you could win an amazing prize.
That’s it for this week. I hope you check out our Spring in Paris QAL. We start on April 28. It would be amazing to welcome you to our group of quilters from all over the world!
Happy quilting!

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
