A block after my own “hearty”...
We are back with another block. But first, let me ask you this, how are you enjoying the Quilt Along so far?
The other day, I read a post in the Sewcialites Facebook group that several quilters haven’t started yet and some of them were worried they were fallen behind. But you know what? It’s not a competition. It’s not about who will finish their quilt first.
Life comes in between sometimes and if all you can do is just print out the worksheet for the blocks, that’s ok. You’ll get around to it. And when you do, I am here to cheer you on.
That being said, let’s take a look at this week’s block. This block is designed by Corey Yoder from Coriander Quilts. Corey is a mom of 2 girls, she has a lovely aesthetic in her quilts, and she wrote a quilting book with 18 applique projects.
The block Corey designed for us this week is called Hearty. A star-burst block with a little heart in the center. Really adorable. I made mine in blue tones but this block would be lovely for Valentine’s Day, right? Maybe make some coasters to use at your Valentine’s dinner?
That’s the beauty of a Quilt Along. You get to practice all kinds of blocks and can pick and choose the ones that are your favorite. And should you need a little help with a block or just would like the company of quilting together you can join the Livestream on the YouTube channel of Fat Quarter Shop.
Kimberley is showing and quilting with us live from 9 am CDT every Friday morning. Have you joined their Livestream yet? You can see how the professionals are quilting and Kimberley is showing you all kinds of tips and tricks. You can quilt along with the whole community and if something isn’t quite clear you can ask questions in the chat.
Fat Quarter Shop also has a Facebook community, the Sewcialites Lounge where people share their blocks and where you can find all the PDF files to the past blocks. It’s really fun to see how one block can have so many different outcomes. Go check it out and show us your blocks if you haven’t already.
Of course, the Sewcialites Quilt Along is also on Instagram. Should you post a picture of your blocks there, don’t forget to add the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL. You can win some pretty amazing prices every month.
So are you ready to take out your notions to start on this Hearty block? Let’s do it!
Don't miss the other designers involved in this project:
Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
