Happy, Thankful, and “Blessed”
There is so much to be blessed about, especially in this day and era. We were all forced to take a step back from life last year, which gave us the time and opportunity to take a good look at it. This reflection gave us the chance to make changes in areas we lost sight of even.
I have been blessed to be able to share my quilting journey with you. My patterns, my fabric collections, my passion. It has given me a real purpose in life and I’m very grateful for it and for all of you.
I have been able to teach what I know through classes and courses. Lately even online and via digital classrooms. And in April, Zen Chic has something very exciting happening where I can share everything dear to my heart.
Why am I talking about being blessed? Because that’s the name of our next block in the Fat Quarter Shop Quilt Along. And it got me thinking about all of this.
The Blessed block is designed by Vanessa Goertzen. Vanessa is the owner and quilter of Lella Boutique. Speaking of Lella Boutique, Vanessa wrote once that the name came from the princess Cinderella. When she was a little girl she had a dress and felt like the Disney princess, but she couldn’t pronounce the word Cinderella. She called it her Lella-dress. That childhood memory is still with her through the name of her business.
Isn’t that just a beautiful story? And beautiful will also be the sampler quilt when you incorporate this Blessed block. I would love to see how your block turns out. You know you can share it with your quilting friends on Instagram, right? Use the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL so we can all find it.
When Fat Quarter Shop finds your Instagram post, you even have a chance to win some amazing prizes. Companies like Moda, Martingale, and Stella Lighting give away a prize every month. So take this opportunity and use that hashtag!
You rather play on Facebook? Be sure to join the Sewcialites Lounge, a special group for all your questions and showing the progress you make in the Quilt Along.
And if you like to see how a block is done, check out the YouTube channel of Fat Quarter Shop. Every Friday at 9 am CDT, Kimberley goes live and you can really follow along. Some of us like to have a visual, right? And it’s cozy as well, quilting with others even if it’s online.
Don’t you feel Blessed by all these free blocks, the possibility of winning prizes, and online teaching? I sure do.
Have fun with this block and show us the result, ok?
Happy quilting my friend.

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
