A Steadfast block, a present for your quilt
Welcome to a new week and therefore another block in the Sewcialites Quilt Along from Fat Quarter Shop.
The block for this week is called Steadfast. To make quilts you need to be steadfast, you need to be devoted. A quilt isn’t just finished in a few hours or in a couple of days, right? Therefore quilters need to be steadfast, committed, and sometimes even push through.
That’s why this block is a perfect one. Maybe you need a little encouragement at this point. We have almost created two-thirds of our blocks for this sampler quilt and chances are your interest level is getting a bit down at this point.
Sherri McConnell, the designer of the Steadfast block, is helping us by providing a pattern that isn’t all too difficult. Basically, it’s squares and rectangles put together in a creative way to get this lovely blocked pattern.
Our designer of the week is the owner and quilter of A Quilting Life. She is a long-life quilter and she and her husband have a big family with 4 children and 5 grandchildren. When you visit Sherri’s website you instantly see that she loves color. Maybe that has something to do with living in the Nevada desert? Who knows…
What I do know is that Fat Quarter Shop is Livestreaming on YouTube every Friday morning at 9 am CDT. Have you joined Kimberly and the rest of the quilters before? It’s great when you want to quilt with online friends and maybe even ask a question when something isn’t quite clear.
And when you have your Steadfast block finished and you post it on Instagram, don’t forget to add the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL. Because if you do, FQS can find yours and you have a chance to win a lovely prize from one of the sponsors for the QAL.
Wanna chat some more besides the Livestream on YouTube? Check-in at the Sewcliates Lounge on Facebook. It’s a great community with 8.6K members. You will also find all the PDFs of former blocks. It’s a great place to meet your fellow quilting friends.
I bet all these places to meet up online will give you the push you may need and stay steadfast in building the blocks of this sampler quilt.
Happy quilting!

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
