“Spot” my block called Affection
Have you jumped on board this new Quilt Along train, yet? Fat Quarter Shop (read their blog post) just started a couple of weeks ago with the Sewcialites Quilt Along. I would love for you to join us.
Especially this week, as I am the featured designer with my block Affection. But let’s first look at the fabrics I’ve chosen for my block. For the whole quilt, I have opted for the Spotted fabric line. And this block was made in simple blue and white. Nice, don’t you think?
Fat Quarter Shop also offers a sample made from my upcoming fabric line Quotation. Unfortunately, it’s not in the stores yet, but you can pre-order the fabrics at Fat Quarter Shop. Go check it out and be the first one to start quilting with these fun fabrics.
So after you have made this block Affection for you Sewcialites sampler quilt and you liked the look of it, take a look at this exciting idea to use this block on its own. Do you like the diagonal stripes appearing from the multiple blocks as much as I do? And what about those V’s at the bottom of this quilt? All that from just 1 block!
To give you more inspiration, I wanna show you my block for this week’s Sewcialites Quilt Along with my fabric from the Chill series. I made the block with these “cool” fabrics because Quotation hadn’t been available yet when I made this sample. So I used the Chill fabrics to practice and sew up this block.
Lastly, I wanna point out the fabulous Livestream that Fat Quarter Shop has every Friday morning at 9 am CDT. Kimberly, the owner of FQS is sewing along with all the people who have signed up for this project.
She is showing every step, no matter how little or simple so even a beginner quilter can follow along. Kimberly shows us which direction she cuts her fabrics and how she opens up the seams when she is pressing and so much more. How awesome, right, to be able to watch up close like that?!
Every Livestream takes about an hour and in that hour she sews a complete block. It’s so entertaining to sit and watch and you can actually do your own block and follow along.
Come and be “Sewcial” with us!
Don't miss the other designers involved in this project:
Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
