In this blog post, I’d like to introduce two modern quilt patterns featuring the new Quotation fabric line.
The first one called Prism was already designed in 2013 for another fabric line. The pattern was sold out and now we have updated that pattern showing the newest fabrics of Zen Chic.
I would say it’s one for the intermediate quilter. It requires the foundation paper piecing technique. I made a YouTube tutorial and this tutorial shows you exactly how to piece together one block using the FPP technique.
A Layer Cake would be a favorable choice for this quilt since the Layer Cake offers you a variety of more than 30 different fabrics which make for quite an interesting look. You could even say a bit of a scrappy look. And all of that on a low budget!
For the background, I picked my famous fabric line Paper. This gorgeous quilt is made by Rachel Hauser of Stitched in Color.
The second quilt is made using the pattern Play a Card. It’s a straightforward one for a beginner quilter. You just need two Charm Packs and a plain background fabric. In this case, we picked the fabric Spotted cream matching the Comma line. It has a little pattern on it, like pepper and salt on a white background which makes it look simple yet lovely.
You can buy both patterns in my shop. The links are below, but make a note in your calendar.
We will have a huge discount weekend from December 4 until December 6, 2020. With this discount you can save big bucks, so keep that in mind.
Of course, if you can’t or don’t want to wait until then, you are welcome to purchase your favorite pattern right now!
FREE QUILT ALONG BLOCKHEADS 2020
BLOCK #46
ROSES
Only 11 blocks to go in this round of Blockheads3 for 2020. How time flies by, right? The last round already where the 14 designers present their last blocks.
This week it’s Jan Patek’s turn to show us her last design for this free quilt along from Moda. Her block is called Roses. It is actually an appliqued block and so I created an alternative visually, but don't have a pattern this time.
Jan’s specialty is primitive folk art quilts. She loves making quilts and teaching to others via her YouTube channel. Why don’t you go and check her out on her blog Jan Patek Quilts? If you’re into quilts that tell a story, Jan is your woman.
Moda’s Layer Cake Giveaway
For this last round, Moda decided to do a special giveaway each week. Sort of as a thank you for quilting along for this year.
If you enter the drawing in the Moda Blockheads Facebook group and you play by the rules, you could win a Layer Cake from the designer of the week.
So for this week, it will be the Layer Cake from Jan Patek called Mill Creek Garden. So hop on over and look for the special post. Keep your fingers crossed and who knows… you could be the lucky one!

Would you like to know how to sew these fun mini fabric baskets with this free tutorial? They are quick to make and perfect for storing and organizing so many small items. Think of sewing notions, any sweets, or - as I used them - as a decorative flower pot. And the EVEN MORE PAPER fabrics make for a nice exterior!
