When you hear the word “hope”, what do you think about? What does the word hope mean to you? Some people see hope as the desire or wish that something is true. Hope is a positive word, it’s optimistic.
We all can use a bit of hope now and then. Especially in times like these with the pandemic still going on, right? By making a sampler quilt, we hope for a beautiful one at the end. And you know the good old saying, Hope springs Eternal. Hope is powerful and so is creating. That’s why hope and quilting go hand in hand.
The block of the week is called Hope. It is designed by April Rosenthal. It’s a lovely block with big squares, little squares, and a few half square triangles. April’s goal is to design patterns that are easy to understand by everyone, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned quilter. Being a quilter herself for more than 15 years, she knows a thing or two.
Another quilter you can rely on is Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop. She is going live every Friday at 9 am CDT to quilt the block of the week with us all. You can find her and her team on their YouTube channel. Via the chat, you can ask questions and interact with other quilters.
Once your Hope block is done, we would love to see you share it on social media. There is a great Facebook group, the Sewcialites Lounge. Other than sharing our blocks, we ask questions, cheer each other on, and talk all things quilting with one another. Why don’t you join, if you haven’t already?
If you want to win an awesome prize, share your block on Instagram. Don’t forget to use that special hashtag, #SewcialitesQAL, so Fat Quarter Shop can find you and put your name in the raffle.
I “hope” you have a lot of fun creating April’s block this week.
Just another thing before you go… Did you know that Zen Chic has its own Quilt Along coming up? We are celebrating the new collection Dance in Paris with a new pattern. It would be fun if you could join us just like all the other quilters that are already anticipating the start of the Spring in Paris QAL on April 28.
Check out all the details on this special QAL page and sign up too! We would love to have you!

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
