Did you know I learned sewing from my grandma? She had an old Pfaff sewing machine and always made lots of clothes for her children and grandchildren.
To this day, I’m grateful for being able to sit next to my grandma and looking at her sewing. She always told me, the day I could reach the pedal, she would teach me how to sew. And she kept her promise.
Gratitude is one of the warm feelings I have for my grandma, as you can imagine. If it weren’t for her, I might not have experienced how much fun and satisfaction working with textiles and threads would bring me.
Gratitude is also the name of this week’s free block for the Sewcialites Quilt Along. It’s from the hand of the talented Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms.
Camille is a busy lady being a mom of 3 boys, she’s a quilter and a designer. She teams up with her mother Bonnie under the name Bonnie & Camille to design fabrics for Moda. In her shop, Camille has not only patterns and fabrics, but other fun stuff for us quilters. Sure sounds like she has a lot to be grateful for as well.
Something else, I am grateful for is the community this Quilt Along has brought forward. In the Sewcialites Lounge on Facebook are almost 9K members cheering each other on and helping one another with questions and challenges.
Maybe you could use a little help and you like it when someone is showing you how a block is done. YouTube is the place to go. Kimberley from Fat Quater Shop is showing us every Friday at 9am CDT how to put the block of the week together. Go check it out this week. And if you can’t make it you can always catch the replay.
You finished your block? I would love to see it. Post it on Instagram and use the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL. Who knows, you might even win a nice prize if FQS picks out your photo this month! Now that is something to be grateful for, right?
Happy quilting!

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
