As you may know, I love bright interiors, especially the Scandinavian living and dining rooms. If you want a peek into my own home, I did a Studiotour once which you can find on my YouTube channel. I’m showing you my home but also my studio where I design the Zen Chic fabrics and patterns. I love my space where I sew and quilt as well.
I feel bright colors need some contrast here and there to let them fully bloom and even pop. You can definitely find some darker colors in my fabric collections and these darker fabrics enhance the brighter ones without question.
Although this week’s free Sewcialites block is called Bright, I didn’t go for two contrasting colors. Because my background fabric is a lighter one, I also used a bright one for the design. And it works perfectly. That is to show, you don’t always need a dark and light fabric for your blocks.
Our designer of the week, Chelsi Stratton works with even brighter colors. In the collections she designs together with her mom for Moda are a lot of light and bright colors. However, their latest collection Happy Days has a few darker blues. You know, for contrast!
So what colors are you gonna use for this week’s Bright block in the Sewcialites Quilt Along? I’m really curious. Share your block with the rest of us in the QAL. You can share in the Sewcialites Lounge on Facebook or on your own Instagram account.
Make sure you use the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL when posting on Instagram. You could win a lovely price if Fat Quarter Shop finds your post and draws you as the winner!
Speaking of FQS, this week Kimberly will go live again on their YouTube channel. Every Friday at 9 am, she is ready to quilt the block of the week with the rest of us. It’s fun to quilt together. Besides, if you’re stuck or don’t understand how to do something, you can ask in the chat.
The Sewcialites Quilt Along only has a few weeks left. So if you are looking for a QAL that has just begun, you could join us in Zen Chic’s very first QAL. We are just a few weeks in our own Spring in Paris Quilt Along. And although you weren’t with us from the start, you can still join us. Check out the special Quilt Along page and join us!!
We would love to welcome you.
Happy quilting!

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
