We are almost halfway through Zen Chic’s free Spring in Paris Quilt Along. How time flies!
Although we are in week 4 already and you may think to yourself, “how fun, I would have loved to join!”, rest assured, you can always hop on the party bus and start your Spring in Paris quilt. Once you’ve signed up for the special newsletter you’ll get all the instructions right in your inbox.
If you already joined the Quilt Along, I bet you are an expert by now on piecing your triangles. You had a lot of opportunities to practice this last week with the 6 rows we put together. With the instructions you’ve got in the videos, chances are it wasn’t that difficult, right?
Let’s look at some photos quilters posted on Instagram using the hashtag #springinparisqal
The next steps
It is time for the next step in our fun and free Quilt Along. This week we are starting with pressing the rows. To avoid a lot of bulk in the corners, I show you a pretty neat way to press your seams. I call it the Spring in Paris freestyle method, haha… You’ll understand after you’ve watched the video.
After pressing our seams, we want to fill the gaps to make all our rows the same width. We use our low volumes/background fabrics to accomplish this. In the video tutorial, I explain how to do this the easy way.
Next is joining our rows. We are going to make those hexagon balls! In the video, I show up close and in detail how I join rows. We want perfectly matching points and all those 6 tips of the triangles need to meet perfectly in the middle of our hexagon balls. It takes some precision and accuracy. But with some patience, you’ll get the job done, I’m sure.
