It’s my “honor” to present you the next block...
Quilting feels like running a marathon sometimes. You need to prepare, choose fabrics, a pattern, and plan the time you will work on it. By the way, if you think choosing the right fabrics is a challenge, you can learn all about that in my book.
There are a lot of bits and pieces that you need to make up your final quilt. You need to have patience and durability. Not quite like a marathon, but still. You need to be precise as well. Only then you get the best results.
And when that quilt is finished and it decorates and enriches your living room or bedroom, you feel like a winner. It feels almost like an honor to be able to make such a beautiful quilt.
That’s what this next block of the Sewcialites Quilt Along reminded me of. Because this next block is called Honor. It is designed by Lisa Bongean. Maybe she felt honored to be asked to make this block for us.
If you wanna make a whole quilt out of this block alone, it could be a lovely 2-colored quilt. Beautiful in all its simplicity giving it a modern look. What do you think, wanna give it a try?
What you also wanna give a try is tuning in to the Livestream of Fat Quarter Shop’s YouTube channel. Every Friday morning, starting at 9 am CDT, Kimberley is quilting along with us. She gives instructions, answers questions, and has a wonderful time with all of us.
Wanna share how your Honor block turned out? You can do that in the Sewcialites Lounge. That’s the Facebook group set up especially for this Quilt Along. Be sure to pop in and interact with all the other quilters. It’s a happy group of people that support each other and cheer each other on.
Also on Instagram there is a community around the Sewcialites Quil Along. We share our blocks with the hashtag #SewcialitesQAL. By the way, did you know you could follow that hashtag? By adding the hashtag to your caption when you share the blocks, you are entered in the draw for some pretty amazing prices each month.
Do you need more reasons to start this new block? I thought so!
Happy quilting...

Can you believe the Sewcialites Quilt Along is almost over? I almost say, because even though the free blocks are all shared in the quilting community, we still have a quilt to make. In this blog post I am giving some tips on how to put together the final layout I created and what materials you will need for it. And last but not least, let's take a look at what the other quilters made of this beautiful sampler quilt!
